About Me

I am Ankit Bahuguna, a Research Engineer @ IIT Bombay, ReMo Representative at Mozilla Foundation, Web Education Community Contributor at World Wide Web Consortium (W3C),  Member of the OW2 Consortium,  a Red Hat Certified Engineer (ID:805010257753975). I have completed my  Bachelor of Technology (Honours) Degree in Computer  Engineering from Rajasthan Technical University. Arya College of Engineering and I.T., Jaipur, India being my alma mater. During this time, I was also a Campus Representative for the Opera Campus Crew,

I am passionate  about the web and technology related to it, hence have opted a career in the field of research at a early age and have 5 papers published in international and national conference journals. I am working in collaboration with IIT Bombay on some key research problems. I am associated with Mozilla RepsOW2 Consortium, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Opera Software ASA, SCILAB INDIA, Spoken Tuotrials, FOSSEE and LinCom (Linux Community at ACEIT, JAIPUR).

Currently, I am working at the Centre for Indian Language Technology and am a part of the AI/NLP Research group at IIT Bombay. My research domain is Natural Language Processing and primary work focuses on developing a Morphological Analyzer for Hindi. The aim is to achieve high accuracy and coverage. Another project where i am involved is the study of EM algorithm and its application in Word Sense Disambiguation.

During my under graduate studies, I was offered a Junior Research Fellowship @ IIT Bombay and was offered three consecutive internships. As a part of my internship, I played a pioneering role in establishing the web version of the Single Board Heater System Virtual Lab, hosted at IIT Bombay and is part of the Virtual Lab Project which is funded by Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. I also worked on PHP Academy   project which is aimed to promote and develop content for PHP and MySQL based on Spoken Tutorials - An Initiative of the "Talk to a Teacher" project of the National Mission on Education through ICT, launched by MHRD, Govt. of India. I also provided the insights into the IT backend for the SCILAB Textbook Companion Project. I was fortunate to be a part of the development team working along with CDAC Bangalore on "Implementation of Scilab on the Cloud", a project governed by the GARUDA and National Knowledge Network Alliance. This is an add-on project which is proposed to be launched with the Aakash Tablet Project (now undertaken by IIT Bombay), providing the numerical computational capabilities as a cloud application using SCILAB to the low priced tablet. Moreover, I was able to setup a full fledged slot-booking system for Virtual lab user and multi-threaded optimization of the Python compute server for simulation based Virtual Labs. My team at Arya College of Engineering and I.T., Jaipur also worked on a "Framework for Virtual Labs" based on Moodle - An Open Source Learning Management System.

I was fortunate to be guided by Dr. Pushpak Bhattacharyya (Prof., Dept. of Computer Science, IIT Bombay) for my Bachelor's Major Thesis Project on  "Distributed Search on Multilingual WordNet and Yago Database using Hadoop Map-Reduce". The Aim of the work was to Implement a faster search algorithm on WN/YAGO based large datasets. I also analyzed and compared execution times for single node search on multi-lingual WordNet and Yago database with a customized MapReduce based (distributed grep) search algorithm using the Hadoop distributed computing framework.
